Aamir Ali: Time has come for me to enter a new zone in my careerThis thriller ship hijack series created by Hansal Mehta and Shailesh R. Singh is directed by Hansal Mehta's son Jai Mehta. This Disney+ Hotstar series is inspired by true events when an Indian ship was hijacked by pirates in Somalia. 'Lootere' tells its story. Vivek Gomber, Rajat Kapoor, Amrita Khanvilkar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Marshall Bachman, Aamir Ali, Athencosi Magamela, Chris Gxalaba, and Preetika Chawla are seen performing brilliantly in 'Lootere'. The series is being aired on Disney+ Hotstar. Let us tell you what Aamir Ali, who plays the character of Ghulam Waris in the series, says about his experience of working in this series.

How was the experience of working in Hansal Mehta's series 'Lootere'?

I was told about this show in 2020 by Shailesh Singh, who is the producer of this film. In 2021, I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra for the casting of this series, and after that, I met Jai Mehta again. After that, I came to know that Hansal Mehta is also associated with this series and his son is directing this series, and many big names are associated with it. When its story was narrated to me, I liked it very much and I knew that if anyone could make a show like this, then these people could make it. It has action, thrill, and a lot of emotions.

What special preparations did you make for this character?

Preparation has to be done for every character. When you work for TV, you do not get time but when you work for OTT, then you have a lot of time to prepare for the character. Every character is easy and tough, it is your perspective how you see that character. I liked my role in this show because this character is very interesting but also difficult. This character deals with every situation very calmly. For example, there is a scene where a gun is placed on his head but he does not take out his gun, he just talks to the person in front, and after some time it is realized that he is controlling the whole scene. He is an undercover agent.

How was the experience of working with the entire team of the show?

I think the most difficult shoot I have been a part of so far is 'Lootere'. What I saw during this shoot, from the location to the energy of the people, I had probably never seen before. People had a vibe to do something different and everyone in the entire unit was working very hard.

You have worked in TV for a long time, so now when you work in films and OTT, are you also given the tag of being from TV?

When you ask such questions, you also know the answer to it. When someone goes from films to OTT, then no one asks him questions, but when someone has done TV and he goes to OTT, only then such questions are asked. I am being asked this question in every interview because you also know the truth that this happens. When someone has seen you in a character on TV, then before fitting you in the real space of OTT, he thinks a lot about whether he will be able to fit in such a character or not. There are difficulties in changing people's thinking and perspective. I think it depends on one or two roles when people accept you on OTT. I cannot even blame them because we all are like this, if someone has done one thing well, then we expect him to keep doing the same kind of work without understanding that he can do other types of work equally well.

Would you like to tell us something about your upcoming project?

I have done a show of Siddharth P Malhotra, 'Doctors', it is coming soon. We will talk about other projects in the coming days.

OTT is becoming very big, how was your experience of working on that platform?

OTT is not becoming big, OTT has become big. In 2020, we started watching OTT from home and we have not stopped till date. Now we do not go to watch a movie unless the trailer of that movie is very good and the movie is amazing. Those makers who were not able to release their films in theaters are now bringing very good work on OTT. All the makers are doing a very good job, I am having a lot of fun.

What would you like to say to your fans?

Many fans are angry and they complain that I am not seen much. Whatever projects I am doing, I am doing them for my happiness, so I will never be seen much, I will always be seen less. I would like to tell the fans to stay with me like this and keep loving me. I want to focus on doing some good work and I am very happy with the kind of work I am doing.
